Dear Leaves

By: Minh Tran (mtran21@uic.edu)

Dear Leaves

Why did you fall so soon?
All ready for winter
When the world is
Still green.

Aren’t you cold?
You donned your
Lovely colours too
Early, and you now
Jealously watch everyone else
Bloom.

I miss you.
Come back soon.

 Note from the poet:

One can take this literally.  For me, it was watching my friends that I’ve known early on go through marriages as well as pregnancies that inspired me to write this piece.
