We have inherited Chicago.
As college students, we are new voices in decision-making conversations that affect and reflect our community. Our city is notoriously hyper-segregated across several factors, and The Chicago Bloc[k] is an authentic, student-led effort to unify the neighborhoods and make them a little more permeable to the multitudes who call them home. Pushing past the parameters of UIC, The Chicago Bloc[k] newsblog recognizes that what happens on the North Side is not divorced from the South, nor the East from the West. As a team, we take our responsibility beyond showcasing the order of events; we take it upon ourselves to explore the relevant conflicts and relationships that shape this city and ultimately the nation and the world. Student voices are the voices that matter.
